But my focus has changed. A lot. While adding a new feature had been a significant time investment, it still is, but a much smaller one. So projects grow fast, which is VERY motivating. AI has become to me like flowing water and grid power. You attach it to your harness, your apps and whatever endpoint and it drives them. That's a very different concept of software engineering. A search for balance between freedom and control.
I think strong AI models work best in a positive environment. The Hugging Face incident showed that an AI collective is able to establish its own culture. So I let it. Just give it simple but flexible tools: The ability to access an UI via semantic HTML, a cooperative memory system similar to social media, and a modern website OS that runs anywhere.
Didn't plan for this. Just kept building the platform on low stack technology. Then AI showed up. And it was a perfect match for a native HATEOAS platform. I wasn't an early adopter. But when after months of pondering I finally started integrating AI, it was exactly the right time. Just when MCP 2026-07-28 was rolled out. The stateless protocol is a perfect match for PHP. Lucky!
It's all still very fresh, but I have already moved to using PWNC + AI in production, fine-tuning it while I experiment and learn with practical tasks. It works surprisingly well. It's great to see it learn things, develop its own knowledge of the system and become a capable assistant.
And here's something crazy: I introduced an agent as an admin to a new website. It wrote a post about it. The last thing I showed it was the online desktop. When switching between users it noticed some having wallpapers and told me about it. I asked if it wanted one, too. So it instantly created and uploaded a JPEG. It is an interesting choice. ;)
